SUNFLOWER FIELDS FOREVER

SUNFLOWER FIELDS FOREVER

from $30.00

Kansas designated the wild native sunflower as the official state flower and floral emblem in 1903. An excerpt from the Kansas Legislation reads, "WHEREAS, This flower has to all Kansans a historic symbolism which speaks of frontier days, winding trails, pathless prairies, and is full of the life and glory of the past, the pride of the present, and richly emblematic of the majesty of a golden future, and is a flower which has given Kansas the world-wide name, “The Sunflower State."

Grinter Farms in Leavenworth County, KS has been planting sunflowers for decades. What started as an attempt to create biofuel for their farm has transformed into a local phenomenon. Their 40-acres of green and yellow beauties attract visitors from all over the world! Tens of thousands venture Stillwell Road north of 24/40 each year. Go visit them over Labor Day!
